The MORE Fellowship is a planned program that will support storytellers and journalists who want to tell African stories with depth, accuracy, and dignity. It grows out of MORE’s founding belief that a country’s story belongs first to the people who live it.
We are building the fellowship now and will open it once funding is in place. When it launches, it will be hands-on and practical. Fellows will develop real, publishable work rather than sitting through lectures alone, and each will finish with something they have made and shared.
What the Fellowship Will Offer
- Fellows will develop a substantive storytelling or reporting project of their own, from idea to finished piece.
- They will work through supervised, hands-on production, so real work is published by the end of the program.
- They will receive craft instruction in interviewing, sourcing, ethics, and editorial and production practice.
- Standout work will be eligible to be featured through MORE’s channels, including The Africa Desk Live and The Desk Dispatch.
- Fellows will join a cohort of peers and a wider network of African journalists.
Who It Will Be For
The fellowship will be designed for early-career journalists, reporters, writers, broadcasters, and digital storytellers who are committed to telling African stories with integrity. Promise, curiosity, and a clear sense of why this work matters will count for more than formal experience, and applicants without published clips will be welcome.
Fellows will need to be comfortable working in English, the working language of MORE’s programs.

Mentorship & Training
Sustained mentorship from experienced journalists, alongside instruction in reporting and production craft.
A Platform
Supervised production that ends in published work, with standout pieces eligible for MORE’s channels, including The Africa Desk Live and The Desk Dispatch.
A Network
A peer cohort and a lasting network of African journalists and MORE alumni.
No Fees
Fellows will pay nothing to take part.
The program is being designed to let fellows commit meaningful time to the work. Any stipend or equipment support will be confirmed and published only once it is funded.
